LAHORE, Pakistan: A female flight attendant of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was busted for trying to smuggle 140,000 Saudi Riyal at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.

The airhostess was nabbed while attempting to smuggle currency at the airport. She had concealed 140,000 Saudi riyals in her socks.

Customs officials at the Allama Iqbal International Airport caught the PIA airhostess red-handed as she tried to smuggle foreign currency.

According to the DC Customs Raja Bilal, the airhostess was removed from a flight to Jeddah after officials found the hidden currency. The concealed amount, equivalent to US$ 37,000, was discovered during routine checks.

Customs authorities took swift action, referring airhostess to the investigating officer and a case will be filed against her.

This incident highlights continuous efforts by customs to prevent illegal currency smuggling at the airport.
