NationalPanama Papers Case: JIT records statement of Qatari prince

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Two members of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing in the Panama Papers Case reached Doha on Tuesday to record the statement of Qatari Prince Hamad Bin Jasim Bin Jaber Al Thani.

Media reports said that JIT members left for Qatar with a questionnaire at 3:00 am today to record the statement of Qatari Prince.

The identity of the two JIT members were not ascertained yet but according to some reports, National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Irfan Naeem Mangi and Brigadier Kamran Khursheed from Military Intelligence (MI) reached Doha to take the statement.

Earlier on Monday, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Asif Kirmani said while talking to media representatives in Islamabad that the report of the JIT would remain incomplete as long as it did not record the statement of the Qatari prince.

Asif Kirmani said that that Qatari prince repeatedly invited JIT to record his statement but the probing team didn’t show any intent towards that end.

The said Qatari price came in the limelight after Sharif family’s Counsels submitted his letter in the Supreme Court of Pakistan in Panama Papers Case, mentioning the decades old business relationship between the two families.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s elder son Hussain Nawaz appeared before the JIT today for sixth time to record his statement.

The prime minister’s daughter Maryam Nawaz will also appear before the JIT on Wednesday.

The six-member JIT headed by Wajid Zia has submitted its three periodic reports to the Supreme Court and it will submit its final report to the apex court on July 10.
