ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In order to comply with modern standards, Pakistan Post has begun computerizing records of its 83 general post offices (GPOs).

Talking to the state-run news agency, an official of Pakistan Post said that the process of computerization of GPOs’ records will complete by December 2017. He said the same mechanism would be applied for the computerization of all 3,200 Post Offices across the Country.

The official said that Pakistan Post also started work on re-branding of its post offices under post office reforms agenda through its own financial resources, and initially 47 post offices re-branded to improve the efficiency of the services.

The Pakistan Office official said that the department has required additional funds for re-branding the post offices. In this regard, a PC-1 was prepared and submitted for re-branding of all 83 GPOs.

The official said that the project was approved under the Post Office Reform Agenda.

Since its foundation in 1947, Pakistan Post has been providing postal services in every nook and corner of the Country through a network of around 13,000 post offices under the Postal Services Management Board.

In addition to its traditional role, Pakistan Post also operates services on behalf of the federal and provincial governments by acting as a collection point for tax and utility bills.
