ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Minorities Day is being observed on Tuesday aimed at recognizing the contribution and sacrifices of minorities in the creation of Pakistan and nation-building.

To mark the day, different events including seminars and social gatherings are being arranged across the Country by members of various religious minorities.

In his message on the Minorities Day, President Dr. Arif Alvi has stressed upon the nation to maintain the spirit of tolerance, social equality, and brotherhood in the society by shunning all prejudices.

President Arif Alvi said that the day has great significance in the history of Pakistan as the whole nation reaffirmed its commitment with the promise made by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on August 11, 1947 in the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan to safeguarding the rights of minorities. Meanwhile, in a tweet, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has said that the minority community has been playing an important role in progress and development of the Country. Shibli Faraz said that the National Minorities Day carries special significance in the history of Pakistan. The information minister said that the dream of the state of Madina will not be realized without welfare of the minorities.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
