NationalPakistan Army Chief never approached Indian Counterpart for talks: ISPR

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) has dispelled Indian media reports that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa approached his Indian Counterpart for resumption of Pak-India talks.

“Hindustan Times reports that COAS had approached Indian COAS for talks & that both had served together in Congo. Story is factually incorrect,” the Director ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said in a tweet on Thursday.

The director general ISPR said that the COAS never approached the Chief of the Indian Army General Bipin Rawat as maliciously reported by Indian media that General Bajwa being “concerned about Pakistan’s international isolation and faltering economy quietly reached out to archrival India about resuming peace talks”.

The Indian media also reported that two Army Chiefs served together in a UN Peacekeeping Force in Congo a decade ago.

However, Major General Asif Ghafoor brushed aside such reports as well, and categorically said that the COAS neither approached General Bipin Rawat nor served with him in Congo.

the DG ISPR said that decision for Pak-India talks is the prerogative of both the governments.

It is worth mentioning here that the Indian media has constantly been falsely propagating against Pakistan.
