COLOMBO, Sri Lanka: The Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan met the Sri Lankan Defence Secretary and State Minister of National Security and Disaster Management General (retd) G.D.H. Kamal Gunaratne at the Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence in Colombo on Saturday, and discussed various matters of mutual interest.

Talking to the Air Chief, the Sri Lankan Defence Secretary said that both Pakistan and Sri Lanka enjoy a commonality of views on various regional and international issues. He also expressed his gratitude to the Air Chief for attending the 70th Anniversary Celebrations of the Sri Lankan Air Force.

General (retd) Kamal Gunaratne also said that the Air Chief’s visit was the manifestation of the strong bond between the Armed Forces of both the Countries, especially the two Air Forces.

The Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan lauded the efforts of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces against terrorism, expressed the solidarity of the Pakistani nation with Sri Lanka and assured of Pakistan’s support & cooperation. He also expressed his gratitude for the hospitality extended to him during the visit.

Both the leaders agreed to further enhance bilateral cooperation especially in training and professional enhancement programs.

The Air Chief also attended a banquet dinner as a guest of honour.

The dinner was hosted by the Commander Sri Lanka Air Force, which was also attended by the President and Services Chiefs of Sri Lanka along with high ranking officers of Sri Lanka Air Force.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
