NationalNPO, KADO to join hands for promoting cottage industry in Gilgit-Baltistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In pursuance of a project assigned to the National Productivity Organization (NPO) on “Developing and Promoting Cottage Industry of Gilgit-Baltistan” as a part of the national development package for the region, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Karakoram Area Development Organization (KADO) Ms. Mahnaz Parveen visited the NPO Head Office to meet its CEO Mr. Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhary to discuss the current situation of the Cottage Industry of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

The GB Cottage Industry Expert and Ex-Board Member AHAN Mr. Izhar Hunzai coordinated the meeting.

The CEO NPO briefed the dignitaries regarding the working, mandate, and different projects of the NPO and the APO (Japan).

The APO Japan and the NPO Pakistan are closely working together for Productivity improvement in Pakistan.

The CEO NPO explained Raised production costs is a severe problem due to which our products cannot find their place in global markets. Everyone wants to reduce production costs but apparently, this is not possible in the current situation. We can only reduce our production costs by improving our performance.

The NPO has been assigned responsibility to develop the PSDP Proposal on “Developing and Promoting Cottage Industry of GB “as a part of the Gilgit-Baltistan Development package. The objective of the project is to build the capacity of stakeholders of the selected crafts.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest and enhanced bilateral cooperation between both organizations were discussed.

Ms. Mahnaz Parveen briefed the CEO NPO about several activities and possible areas of mutual cooperation.

The CEO KADO further introduced her organization’s upcoming Knowledge Centre project.

In response, the CEO NPO proposed that the NPO with the help of the APO may provide Technical Expert Services (TES) to the KADO.

Both CEOs made consensus on trade promotion and mainly focused on Productivity Promotion of the Cottage Industry in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The CEO of NPO Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry said that such partnerships would bring tremendous change in the fields of Industry, Trade, Agriculture, and Services.

The CEO of KADO Ms. Mahnaz Parveen appreciated the role of the NPO in the field of Industry, Public Sector, Services, and Agriculture. She also added that the KADO and Industry of Gilgit-Baltistan are enthusiastic to cooperate with the NPO.
