NationalNIE trained more than 20,000 students in field of electronics

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: National Institute of Electronics (NIE) has so far provided training to 20,000 students in the fields of Electronics besides offering internship to more than 600 Internees.

Currently in collaboration with National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), a training initiative is in progress under “PM Youth Skilled Development Programme”.

”Presently 100 students are enrolled under this program in Graphic Designing, Social Media marketing, Chinese Language and Industrial Electrician”, Principal Research Officer, Sadia Qureshi said.

She informed that established in 1979, the institute role is to become Center of Excellence in the field of Electronics in Pakistan at Regional and International level with the collaboration of academia,  public / private, Industrial and strategic sectors.

She added that NIE focus to establish Semiconductor Chip Design facility for self-reliance. Research, Development and Testing on NANO Electronics Technologies.

Besides that other key areas included establishment of conformity assessment centers of electronic products, capacity enhancement and Energy Conservation Management through Development of Energy Efficient LED lights, Green Energy Systems, Solar Charge controller and Energy Audit.

While setting up Technology Business Incubation Center for commercialization through public and private partnership and extensive Human Resource Development program in advanced areas of System Engineering designs are also on their priority list.

Manufacturing of Consumer Electronics products like Mobile phones, Laptops, Energy Meters, Vehicle Tracking System, Fiber Scope for Medical use, Security/Access Control Systems and Motor Controls for Industry in consultation with local and foreign companies and Industrial Automation Control for discrete machinery/plants and Retrofitting solutions for Sick Industry in public and private sectors are also main areas of their concern as these fields are in high demand in market with better option of job opportunities.

His Royal Highnes conveyed his heartfelt acknowledgement to Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu for the participation of Pakistan Air Force contingent comprising JF-17 Block-III fighter jets alongside air and ground crew in the Bahrain International Airshow. Chief of the Air Staff expressed his gratitude for the honour of receiving the Bahrain Medal - First Class. On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
