ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A daylong national conference “Governance 2016: The Time is Now” would be held in Islamabad on April 25, to highlight and promote good governance principles.
Official sources told on Wednesday that Foundation for Progress, a think tank and sustainable development organization in collaboration with Planning Commission of Pakistan and Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad are organizing the moot.
The speakers would deliberate on the current national governance scenario, analysis of the root causes of bad governance, writ of the state, provincial, institutional and policy reforms, emerging influences and advising practitioners’ path forward.
The official sources said that the conference would further highlight the role of the modern information and communication technology and media in promoting efficient and effective public service delivery mechanism.
It would highlight how to foster linkages and cooperation among stakeholders on achieving national development plans and increasing awareness among the policy makers, practitioners, scholars and other actors on the role and contribution of good governance.
The good governance depends on an ability to exercise power, formulate public focused policies and to make good decisions over time, across spectrum of economic, social, environmental and other area.
“This is linked with the government’s capacity for knowledge, mediation, resource allocation, implementation and maintenance of key relationships.”
More than 350 delegates representing over 150 diverse public and private sectors would participate in the conference.
