ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal on Monday reiterated his resolve to strictly implement his stance of “Accountability for All”, saying that NAB would take action against all corrupt people across the board without any discrimination.
“When I was serving as acting Chief Justice of Supreme Court, I emphasized on “Justice for All” and now as a Chairman NAB, I have a firm belief on “accountability for all”, and would not tolerate any discrimination against any individual or province,” he said this while reviewing performance of prosecution division here at NAB headquarters in Islamabad.
The Chairman said he would look at record of former Sindh Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Sharjeel Memon and former Adviser to Prime Minister for Petroleum, Dr Asim Hussain’s cases to examine whether there was any discrimination committed.
Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said NAB had no connection with issuance of non bailable arrest warrants of Sharjeel Memon as it was discretion of the relevant court.
The Chairman NAB said the reported allegations would be probed according to law and henceforth, references would be filed in courts on basis of evidences and realities. He directed that all cases filed in accountability courts, High Courts and Supreme Court should be effectively prosecuted.
Moreover, he said complete elimination of corruption from the Country was his top priority for which zero tolerance policy would be implemented. He directed the NAB prosecutors to deliver their services on merit by strictly adhering to requirements of the law.
The Chairman asked all the critics of NAB to provide their proposals and action plan for improvement of the Bureau’s working instead of simply criticizing it and assured to implement all doable proposals in this regard.
