ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Officers of National Highway and Motorway Police have taken stern action on complaints of overcharging by transporters during Eid-ul-Azha holidays and got returned total Rs 6 million to passengers.
On the directives of Inspector General Shaukat Hayat, the officers took prompt action in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Chakwal, Multan, Okara, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, Moro, Hyderabad, Karachi and many other districts against the complaints of overcharging by the transporters, retrieved millions of rupees and returned the same to the passengers, said a press release.
On Monday on motorways, total amount of Rs 113,970 and on highways total amount of Rs 5,934,100 was retrieved and returned to the passengers.
Timely and quick action of Motorway Police was highly appreciated by the public.
