PESHAWAR, Pakistan: A Chartered MI-8 Helicopter of Mari Petroleum Company crashed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district on Saturday after taking off near the Shiwa oil field due to a technical fault.
Sources said that the helicopter was carrying 14 passengers including three foreign Russian pilots and crew members.
They said that six people were killed and eight were injured in the accident which occurred due to engine failure.
Sources also said that the injured have been transported from the crash site to CMH Thal. From Thal, the injured are being airlifted.
The helicopter experienced a technical fault shortly after takeoff, and during an emergency landing, the tail rotor struck the ground.
An investigation into the accident has been initiated.
