ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad will further glorify the Pakistan Day Parade with his presence, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

On March 23, all three armed forces of Pakistan will hold a joint parade at Parade Ground near Faizabad Interchange in Islamabad to mark the ’79th Pakistan Day’.

In a twitter message on Wednesday, the Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor said that Prime Minister of Malaysia Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad will be the Guest of Honour at the military parade by Pakistan’s armed forces on March 23.

The director general ISPR said that Azerbaijan’s Defence Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Bahrain’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and government officials from Oman will also participate in Pakistan Day Parade.

Likewise, various contingents from Azerbaijan, Bahrain, China, King of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Sri Lanka and Turkey will also take part in the parade.

The armed forces hold the annual Joint Military Parade in Islamabad to mark Pakistan Day, which commemorates the passing of the Lahore Resolution on March 23, 1940 when the All-India Muslim League demanded a separate nation for the Muslims of the British Indian Empire.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
