Lt General Asim Munir has been appointed as the Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), replacing Lt General Naveed Mukhtar (Lt General Asim Munir appointed as DG ISI).

In a press release, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that Lt Gen Azhar Saleh Abbasi has been appointed as the Chief of Logistics Staff at Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and Lt General Nadeem Zaki has been appointed as the Corps Commander Mangla.

Likewise, Lt General Shaheen Mazher has been appointed as the Corps Commander Peshawar, Lt General Abdul Aziz as the Military Secretary GHQ, Lt General Muhammad Adnan as the Vice Chief of General Staff (VCGS-B), and Lt General Waseem Ashraf as the IG Arms.

It is pertinent to mention here that except Lt General Azhar Saleh Abbasi, other six Pakistan army generals were promoted to Lieutenant General from Major Generals on September 28, 2018.

Lt General Asim Munir appointed as DG ISI

Lt General Asim Munir is the former Director General of Military intelligence (MI).

Prior to Lt General Asim Munir, Lt General Naveed Mukhtar had been serving as the director general ISI since December 19, 2016.

Lt General Naveed Mukhtar was posted as Corps Commander Karachi but then transferred and posted as the director general ISI in December 2016.
