LAHORE, Pakistan: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said on Saturday that Lahore Knowledge Park would prove to be a milestone in the education sector and play an important role in introducing boy and girl students to the latest knowledge and research.

Chairing a meeting of Board of Directors of Lahore Knowledge Park in Lahore, he issued instructions for speedy implementation of the project and said that it should be a masterpiece of transparency, standard and speed like other projects of the Punjab government while its infrastructure should also be state-of-the-art.

The meeting reviewed primary design and master plan of the project.

The chief minister said the Punjab government was implementing a comprehensive roadmap for improvement of the education sector and positive results were being witnessed.

He said the dream of development could not be materialized without promoting education and equipping the youth with modern knowledge.

In view this fact, the Punjab government was giving top priority to promotion of quality education in the province, he added.

Shahbaz Sharif said the Lahore Knowledge Park was a part of the plan to equip the youth with modern knowledge and campuses of world-renowned universities will be established at Lahore Knowledge Park.

He said the Lahore Knowledge Park project was speedily being given final shape and a high standard and transparency would be maintained like other projects of the Punjab government.

He said a revolutionary change would be brought in the education sector with the setting up of Lahore Knowledge Park at a prime location of Lahore and youth of the whole country will get a splendid opportunity of studying at the campuses of international universities.

The chief minister said a comprehensive plan should immediately be evolved to bring the best universities to the Knowledge Park and every possible step should be taken for immediate implementation of the project.

He said the Lahore Knowledge Park project was a part of the government efforts for the empowerment of youth.

Advisor Lahore Knowledge Park Company and a Professor of Howard University Dr Spiro Pollalis gave a briefing on primary design and master plan of the project.

Provincial Minister for Higher Education Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz, Chairman Planning & Development, Chairman DESCON Group Razaq Dawood, Secretary Higher Education, Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission, Senior Vice President Lahore Chamber of Commerce Almas Haider and concerned authorities attended the meeting.
