PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Energy and Power Mohammad Atif Khan on Thursday said that the provincial government would resist any amendment in the Regulation of Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Power Act (RGTD-EPA) 1997.
In a statement issued here, he said that KPK considers any amendment to dilute NEPRAs power against the interest of the provinces and general public and will not comprise on neutrality of NEPRA as regulator.
He said that the Federal Minister for Water and Power on directives of CCI meeting held on May 2, this year, held meeting with Chief Ministers or representatives of all provinces on May 9, this year to develop consensus.
He said that the meeting between Federal Minister and Chief Ministers of Sindh and KPK and senior representatives of Punjab and Balochistan Governments could not development any census, however the Federal Minister assured the views of the Provincial Governments would be incorporated and final draft would be shared with respective government.
Atif reiterated that the KPK government would not accept any amendment that would compromise the interest of consumers and masses.
