PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan has said that all available resource would be utilized to equip the force jawan with latest training.

While presenting welcome address on the occasion of inaugural ceremony of Traffic Management School and new Kohat Police Lines at Kohat on Wednesday, the police chief informed that it was the 8th specialized school of its nature in the province which was formally inaugurated.

The IGP said that so far more than 17,000 police officers and jawans had been provided special training in these schools. He said that state-of-the art facilities have been ensured in the Traffic Management School where senior instructors of military and motorway police, professors, academician, lawyers and senior doctors will impart training and share their experience with the trainees.

The KPK police chief further said that the trainers would be trained in law, traffic management, Information technology skills, public services, first aid and self-protection in the school.

Referring to the new Kohat police lines spread over an area of 200 canals land, constructed over an estimated cost of Rs 469 million and having accommodation capacity of 600 officials. He said that residential flats, firefighting range facilities have also been ensured in the new police lines.

While sharing information about the new projects in police force, the IGP pointed out that various projects worth Rs 3050 million would be completed for the police force during the fiscal year 2017-18. These include 25 new police stations, 6 regional CTD headquarters, K-9 unit at Mansehra and police lines at Chitral, Dir and Shangla.

While referring to the law and order situation in the province the IGP informed that crime and terrorism incidents had been dwindled down to its lowest ebb and the current year was the most peaceful year as compared to last 5 years. During current year police has arrested over 17,000 proclaimed offenders which is 2000 more than in the correspondent year of last year.

Similarly crime against person remained minus 16 percent, crime against property minus 12 percent and terrorism incidents minus 51 percent during the current year. The police chief further informed that police performance against narcotics also remained exceptionally well during current year and seized more than 15000 kg chars and 650 kg heroin.

In respect of weapon police recovered 6758 rifles, 21086 pistols, 2705 Kalashnikovs, 10 each LMG and rocket launchers and 993 detonators. Likewise more than 5,000 disputes of different kind were amicably solved through dispute resolution councils and more than 2,000 complaints were disposed of in Police Access Services, the IGP maintained.

Earlier, the Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan, who was the chief guest on the occasion, formally inaugurated the school and new police line by unveiling the plaques.
