PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has promulgated KP Police Ordinance 2016 and notified it on August 1, in larger interest of general public, said an official statement here on Friday.
According to police, ordinance is of vital importance and its early implementation is need of the hour.
Under the ordinance District Police Officer has been bound to present six months police performance report in the District Assembly and take the public representatives into confidence on it.
They were also directed to seek guidelines from the members of the District Assembly regarding issues faced by police force.
It may be recalled that so far Hangu, Haripur, Shangla, Batagram and Torghar DPOs have briefed their respective District Assemblies.
The pubic representatives while welcoming this step has appreciated the performance of present provincial government and services of the police force.
Inspector General Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nasir Khan Durrani has also directed the remaining DPOs to present their six months report in their respective District Assemblies by the end of this month and seek guidelines from them.
It may be recalled that Police Ordinance 2016 is a paradigm shift on part of the government to benefit public and ensure professionalism in police force.
