PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak Thursday directed to identify different stations and sites for the proposed Peshawar bus rapid transit project to be initiated towards the end of this year.

He was presiding over a high level meeting here at CM Secretariat. Addressing the participants of the meeting, the Chief Minister asked the quarter concerned to widen and clear the alternative routes for diversion of traffic once the project is put on ground.

The traffic flow should not be disturbed, he added.

He also directed for expansion of overhead bridges, roads and underpasses and plan commercial activities there.

The Chief Minister directed the Commissioner Peshawar, Secretaries Transport, Local Government and DG PDA to visit different corridors of the proposed Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit and identify the sites and stations.

He said that there should be all facilities including waiting places, washrooms, water etc.

The Chief Minister further directed to add an additional line in the proposed corridors of the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit and it should be completed within one month.

He made it clear that work on the corridors would be started this year therefore the concerned departments should finalize their arrangements so that the vehicular flow is unhindered.

He directed to complete the project within the time frame as this was the project giving one solution for integrating the whole traffic of Peshawar city on permanent basis and it should be planned so comprehensive catering to the future needs of the Peshawar city.

Pervez Khattak directed to put on fast track the overall beautification projects and complete them within the time frame adding that the cleanliness and disposal of waste should be properly monitored.

“His government wants to revive the grandeur of Peshawar and quality of work on different routes in Peshawar city”, the chief minister added.

Different departments have different responsibilities and these departments should fulfill all their responsibilities in time otherwise there would be danger of wasting pubic money.

The Chief Minister said his government had set up a high standard of public service that should be visible in the construction work and other activities in social sectors throughout the province.
