NationalKashmiris to observe Global Kashmir Day on July 22

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference Syed Ali Gilani, and Hurriyet leaders Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik have called for observance of Global Kashmir Day on Friday (July 22) and a march towards Islamabad town on Monday.

The leaders have given the call for the Global Kashmir Day and the march towards Islamabad town as part of the protests programmes against the killing of innocent people by Indian forces during the ongoing Kashmir Intifada.

The Intifada was triggered by the extrajudicial killing of top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Burhan Wani July 8. 49 people have been killed so far due to the firing of bullets, pallets and teargas shells by Indian troops and police personnel on peaceful protesters.

In a joint statement issued in Srinagar, the Hurriyet leaders declared Friday as `Global Kashmir Day’ and asked the Kashmiri people across the world to hold rallies and protest marches wherever they live.

The statement said that on July 23 (Saturday) complete shutdown will be in occupied Kashmir and after Maghrib prayers Azaddi songs will be played from the mosques of the territory.

The statement further said that on July 24 (Sunday), complete strike in the day and blackout will be observed in the night while on July 25 (Monday) total shutdown will be observed and a public meeting will be held in Islamabad town to pay tributes to the martyrs.

The statement urged the people from across the occupied territory to reach the town and participate in the gathering.

The leaders appealed to the people to strictly follow the programme and give a loud and clear message to India that they would not rest till a single Indian soldier was present in the occupied territory.
