ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr. Arif Alvi on Friday administered Oath to the 26th Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Asif Saeed Khosa at a Ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Friday morning.

The Ceremony was attended among others by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, members of the Federal Cabinet, Parliamentarians, Services Chiefs and serving and retired judges of the Supreme Court and lawyers.

The foreign dignitaries including President Supreme Court of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Narin Ferdi Sefik, Chief Judge of the Borno State of Nigeria Kashim Zannah, former Senior Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of India Justice Madan Bhimarao Lokura and founding President of the Commonwealth Judicial Education Institute Sandra E Oxner of Canada also attended Justice Asif Saeed Khosa’s Oath Taking Ceremony.

Justice Asif Saeed Khosa’s tenure as the Chief Justice of Pakistan will last for 347 days, and he will retire on December 20, 2019. Justice Khosa will be replaced by Justice Gulzar Ahmed whose tenure will ended on February 1, 2022.

Justice Asif Saeed Khosa brings with him a vast experience in the law and justice field. He has decided about 55000 Cases during his 19 years of career so far.

Justice Khosa received his undergraduate and masters degrees from University of Punjab and his LL.M degree from Queens’ College at Cambridge in 1978.
