Justice Aamer Farooq takes oath as Chief Justice of Islamabad High CourtISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Senior Puisne Judge of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Aamer Farooq has taken oath as the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court.

President Dr. Arif Alvi administered the oath at the President House in Islamabad on Friday.

Justice Aamer Farooq became the new Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court after the elevation of Justice Athar Minallah to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Syed Hassan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Shahid Waheed took oath as judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial administered the oath to them.

About Justice Aamer Farooq

Justice Farooq was born on April 26, 1969. He got his Senior Cambridge Certificate in 1986 from St. Anthony’s High School Lahore and Higher Senior Cambridge Certificate from Aitchison College in 1988. He secured his LLB degree from London University, UK and qualified as Barrister-at-Law from Lincoln’s Inn, London in 1993.

In addition, he was enrolled as an Advocate of the Lahore High Court (LHC) in 1994 and as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2007.

Justice Farooq established his law practice at Lahore with an Office at Islamabad as well, dealing mostly with banking, commercial, tax and civil matters.

Since 2009 until his elevation, he was part of adjunct faculty at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).

Justice Aamer Farooq took Oath as an Additional Judge of Islamabad High Court on January 1, 2015 and as confirmed Judge on December 23, 2015.
