WANA, Pakistan: The coldblooded murder of five labourers, belonging to tehsil Shakai, in the Daza Ghundai area of district South Waziristan in unidentified assailants’ attack on an under-construction police station triggered massive protests in tehsil Shakai, Wana and Dera Ismail Khan.

They protestors strongly denounced the gruesome act of terrorism and demanded through investigation into the tragic incident to bring the culprits to book within a week.

The tragic incident triggered a shocking wave in the region, as protest demonstrations were held in Wana and Dera Ismail Khan, while shutter down strike was observed in tehsil Shakai on Saturday.

The people from various walks of life participated in huge number in the protest rallies, wherein they called upon the government and state institutions to apprehend the killers immediately and give them exemplary punishment.

The irate protestors were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans “We Want Justice for slain Labourers”, “Shuhada Package for martyred labourers” and “We Want Peace”.

The participants of the protest demanded the DPO, IGFC and other institutions to give speedy immediate justice to these poor workers.

They urged that these poor laborers should be recognized as martyrs at the government level and their families should be given financial support through martyrs’ package.

The participants insisted that the government should arrest the killers within a week or else they would decide about their next course of action if the government failed to take any action in this regard.

The protest demonstrations were addressed by Taj Muhammad, an independent candidate for PK-10, several leaders of JUI-F and tribal elders. They expressed their disappointment over the government’s failure to ensure peace in South Waziristan.

It is pertinent to mention here that a total of five laborers – constructing a police post in district South Waziristan– were sleeping at their camp when some unidentified individuals opened fire on them on Thursday’s night and killed them on the spot
