LAHORE, Pakistan: The Indian Sikh Yatrees have arrived in Pakistan through the Wagah Border to participate in the Celebrations of the 552nd Birth Anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak.

Upon their arrival, the Sikh Yatrees went through the COVID protocols at the border.

Meanwhile, the Ceremonies to mark the 552nd Birth Anniversary of Sikh faith founder Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji began at Kartarpur Gurdwara Complex today.

Thousands of Sikh Yatrees from across the world and India are attending the Ceremonies.

In a statement, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan looks forward to welcoming Sikh Pilgrims visiting Gurdwara Darbar Sahib through the Kartarpur Corridor from November 17.

While Pakistan had reopened the Kartarpur Corridor on June 29, 2020 after a temporary suspension of about three months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, India had kept the Corridor closed from its side for nearly 20 months, and has only now allowed it to be re-opened.

The Sikh Community from India and around the world had been urging the opening of the Corridor.

Pakistan had also proposed formally to India to reopen the corridor in respect of the wishes and sentiments of the pilgrims.

Pakistan will also be hosting thousands of Sikh pilgrims from India and around the world for the 552nd Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak from November 17-26, 2021.

On the Baba Guru Nanak’s 552nd Birth Anniversary, Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has issued around 3,000 visas to Indian Sikh Yatrees.
