NationalIHC upholds death sentence of Zahir Jaffer in Noor Mukadam Murder Case

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday upheld the death sentence of Zahir Jaffer in the Noor Mukadam Murder Case.

Dismissing the appeals filed against the death sentence of Zahir Jaffer, a two-member division bench comprising the IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan not only upheld the Zahir Jaffer’s death sentence awarded earlier by a Trial Court but also turned his 25-year jail term into another death penalty on the charge of rape.

The verdict had earlier been reserved on December 21 by the IHC Bench.

In its judgement announced today, the IHC also turned down the appeals of co-accused Iftikhar (watchman) and Jan Mohammad (gardener) against their 10-year jail penalty.

The 27-year-old Mukadam Murder, the daughter of a retired diplomat Shaukat Ali Mukadam, was found murdered at a residence in Sector F-7/4 on July 20, 2021.

On the same day, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against the primary accused Zahir Jaffer. He was arrested under the Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
