ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Monday kick off his farewell visits beginning from Lahore Garrison, the Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt. General Asim Saleem Bajwa said.

In a Tweet message, the DG ISPR said that “COAS kicks off his farewell visits beginning from Lahore today (Monday).”

The COAS met and addressed huge gathering of soldiers of Army and Rangers at Lahore Garrison.

While addressing troops, General Raheel said that accomplishment of peace and stability was not an ordinary task.

“Our sacrifices and joint national resolve helped us in off setting all odds against country”, he added.

Earlier in January this year, General Raheel announced that he would not take extension in his tenure as the COAS following the completion of three-year term; therefore he would leave his Office on November 29, 2016.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif didn’t make any appointment yet for the Post. He would select names for the appointment of new Army Chief and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) from a list of senior most generals forwarded by the COAS.
