QUETTA, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday vowed zero tolerance against terrorism and directed focused and indiscriminate operations against terrorists of all kind in coordination with Intelligence and other Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs).

While speaking during his visit to Headquarters Southern Command in Quetta on Tuesday, the COAS appreciated the integrated approach adopted by Army and Civilian government for security and development.

The COAS said that Pakistan army would render all necessary assistance to the Balochistan government for restoration of peace in the province, capacity building of the LEAs and by providing security for all projects in remote areas.general-qamar-javed-bajwa

The Army Chief was briefed in detail about the operational preparedness of the Command, overall security situation in Balochistan and ongoing stabilization operations.

The COAS commended Army, Frontier Corps (FC), LEAs and Intelligence agencies for noticeable improvement in law and order situation in Balochistan. He particularly lauded support and sacrifices of the people of Balochistan for restoration of peace in the province.

The Army Chief also commended Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and National Logistics Cell (NLC) for developing road network in the province, and stressed the need to further accelerate development projects to ensure greater connectivity for the masses. He expressed the resolve to ensure fool proof security arrangements for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Earlier upon his arrival in Quetta, the COAS was received by Commander Southern Command Lt General Aamer Riaz.

Later, the COAS laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to acknowledge the sacrifices of all martyrs who laid their lives for the motherland.
