KARACHI, Pakistan: The 6th four-day multi-national Naval Exercise ‘Aman 2017’ kicked off in North Arabian Sea on February 10 in which 37 countries including Pakistan were taking part.

With the slogan of “Together For Peace”, Naval Exercise ‘Aman 2017’ was inaugurated by the Commander of Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Arifullah Hussaini by hoisting national flag at Karachi dockyard on Friday morning.

A total of 37 countries including Pakistan, Australia, China, Indonesia, Turkey, Sri Lanka, United States, United Kingdom, Russia and Japan were participating in the exercise. Likewise, 15 ships, two P3C Orion aircrafts and five helicopters were participating in the exercise.

While speaking at the ceremony, the Vice Admiral said that the objective of naval exercise was to maintain regional peace by competing human trafficking, smuggling of narcotics and terrorism.

The Vice Admiral said that issues could be resolved in peaceful atmosphere and not in conflict.

Vice Admiral Arifullah Hussaini said that it was good omen that we had come together for common goal. He said that mutual connectivity would help in restoration of peace in the region.

Moreover, he said that Pakistan Navy had played a vital role in the region to ensure safe passage for cargo ships.

In his address, the Naval Chief Admiral Zakaullah said that mutual cooperation was imperative for navy. He said that no one could counter sea threats alone, adding that this exercise would help to counter terrorism and human trafficking.
