ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal government has announced two public holidays on July 16 and 17 across the Country on the occasion of 9th and 10th Muharram-Ul-Haram.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif accorded approval to the public holidays on account of 9th and 10th Muharram.
“In continuation of Cabinet Division’s Circular No. 10-2/2023-Min-II dated 20th December, 2023 listing public and optional holidays for the year 2024, the Prime Minister has been pleased to declare 16th and 17th July, 2024 (Tuesday & Wednesday) as public holidays on the occasion of Ashura (9th & 10th Moharram 1446 AH),” read the notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Tuesday.
Earlier on Monday, the Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi presided over an important meeting in Islamabad which decided to ban the use of drones during Muharram processions and majalis across the Country.
It was decided that the use of drone cameras during Muharram processions and majalis will be prohibited from 1st to the 10th of Muharram-Ul-Haram.
The interior minister assured that federal government will provide all possible cooperation to provinces including Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and Islamabad for maintaining law and order.
