NationalFATA Commission of Human Rights speaks out in support of Ayesha Gulalai

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The FATA Commission of Human Rights has strongly condemned the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for threatening to set Ayesha Gulalai’s house on fire and cancellation of her tribal domicile.

In a statement, a Human Rights Defender at FATA Commission of Human Rights Zar Ali Khan Afridi said that this is serious threat indeed.

Zar Ali Khan Afridi said that no one would be allowed to harm people in Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) especially women and children.

The human right activist said that if PTI or its leadership in FATA take law in hands then it will be called hooliganism and tribal custom if someone supports to be used in such cases then woman is oppressed and innocent and people stand with her against male.

Afridi said that threats are serious and action needs to be taken by concerned departments and organizations.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi directed Inspector General Police (IGP) Islamabad to provide Ayesha Gulalai 24 hour security.

The prime minister also proposed establishment of a Parliamentary Special Committee to probe allegations levelled by Ayesha Gulalai against PTI leader Imran Khan.
