ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: With only two days left in Eid Milad-un-Nabi, people of twin cites of Rawalpindi and Islamabad are finalizing their preparations to mark the Birthday of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) with religious zeal.

Like every year, the government and religious organizations have planned a number of activities including seminars, conferences, milad and other discussion programmes to celebrate the annual event.

Different Naat committees are also organizing Naat competitions to celebrate 12 Rabi-ul-Awal.

The youngsters are enthusiastically decorating their homes and streets with banners and flags bearing the writings about celebration of the birthday of the last Prophet, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and lighting bulbs.

“I have decorated my home with colourful lightings and also my street with buntings to mark the birthday of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) with great reverence”, a young boy Salman Sheikh said.

He said, “I along with my other friends have also collected funds (chanda) from different neighbours to organize a grand Naat Khawani programme and Milad to mark the occasion”.

All the shopping centers are also being beautifully decorated by the devoted citizens with colored lights on this occasion to express jubilation over the sacred day.

The sacred day will dawn with special prayers at Fajr, in the mosques throughout the country for the upholding and flourishing of Islam and the Islamic teachings, unity, solidarity, progress and welfare of the Muslim Ummah and security and stability of Pakistan.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi’ processions will be taken out and `Mahaafil-e-Milad’ will be held across the country to celebrate the sacred day.

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration and Islamabad police are taking stringent measures to ensure special security arrangements for processions of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

While Punjab government has also prepared a contingency security plan with coordination of other law enforcement agencies to guard the processions.

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will hold an International Seerat Conference from December 8-9 to mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi to highlight the message and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Representatives from the universities and religious institutions of Pakistan, India, Malaysia, Algeria, Kosovo, Sudan, Brunei, and Saudi Arabia will attend the conference.

Different schools, colleges and universities will arrange Naat competitions and milad on the occasion.
