ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Country plunged into darkness on Monday morning after the power outage erupted in many Cities.

In a Twitter statement, the Ministry of Energy said that “As per the initial information, the system frequency of the national grid went down at 07:34 am today resulting in a widespread breakdown in the power system.”

The ministry said that “Maintenance work is underway to restore the system”.

Talking to a private media outlet, the Energy Minister Khurram Dastgir said that it may take 10 to 12 hours till the power is fully restored in the Country.

The ministry told that the restoration of grid stations in Peshawar and Islamabad had begun.

The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) said that the power is being restored from several grid stations in a phased manner to protect the distribution system from any damage.
