NationalCorruption is the mother of all evils: Chairman NAB

MULTAN, Pakistan: The Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Qamar Zaman Chaudhry on Friday described corruption as the mother of all evils, and said NAB was committed to recover looted money from corrupt elements.

“Today, the NAB is absolutely committed to root out corruption in all its forms and manifestations with an iron hand,” Chaudhry said while addressing officers during his farewell visit to the NAB Multan.

The Chairman NAB said he considered eradication of corruption a national duty, and added NAB’s performance remained excellent in comparison to other anti-corruption organizations.

Qamar Zaman Chaudhry said since its inception, NAB had recovered Rs 290 billion and deposited in national exchequer which was indicative of hard work, dedication, professionalism and transparency in all ranks of NAB officers/officials in an atmosphere of renewed energy and dynamism.

The Chairman said the Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT), Transparency International, and World Economic Forum (WEF) appreciated Pakistan for the new initiatives taken by NAB under his tenure.

Chaudhry said under his guidance and supervision, NAB perfected its procedures to make it more effective and proactive in order to come up to expectations of the nation.

Qamar Zaman said that today NAB was the Chairman of SAARC anti-corruption forum and the only organization in the world with whom China had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to streamline cooperation in the field of anti-corruption and to oversee projects to be undertaken under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
