ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The long-awaited construction work on a new Kiyani Road bridge in Bhara Kahu area of Islamabad may go underway soon, which will also provide an alternative route for motorists to pass through the area whilst the flyover over the newly renamed ‘Srinagar Highway’ will be built.
The existing bridge – which serves as a junction point to link Kiyani Road with Shahdara Road – is on the verge of collapse; therefore, according to an Official, a new two-lane bridge parallel to the already existing bridge will be built.
The Official told the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency that the groundbreaking of the bridge is expected by mid-October 2020.
Earlier this year, the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker from NA-53 Constituency under whose jurisdiction Bhara Kahu falls promised to the local dwellers that a four-lane flyover on main Murree Road – now renamed as Srinagar Highway – as well as a Kiyani Road bridge will be built apart from other infrastructure development.
However, after the flyover went under the Public-Private Partnership mode, now the project has been delayed for a year but the construction of the new Kiyani Road Bridge is very likely to begin soon.
Meanwhile, on September 13, Ali Nawaz Awan inaugurated the newly built U-turn in Satra Meel area of Bhara Kahu.
Speaking on the occasion, the lawmaker said that we have fulfilled the long-pending demand of the people to build a U-turn at Satra Meel.
Ali Nawaz Awan, who is also the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Capital Development Authority (CDA), said that we are focusing on the people’s welfare-oriented projects, and no stone will be unturned to ensure the provision of maximum facilities to the people.
Separately, the lawmaker also issued directives to the CDA to upgrade the Service Road alongside Srinagar Highway and Islamabad Expressway.
The lawmaker also directed the fencing of all main roads of Islamabad and the allocation of entry-points to enter the main highways.
Ali Nawaz Awan said that Rs 60 million have been released to the Street Lights Division for the installation and repairing of street lights in Islamabad.
