ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Construction of much-awaited Diamer Bhasha Dam is likely to begin soon, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting & the Chairman CPEC Authority Lt General Asim Saleem Bajwa said on Monday.

In a twitter statement, Lt General Asim Saleem Bajwa termed it a historic news for all generations of Pakistan as the Construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam will be a huge stimulus for the Country’s economy.

The Special Assistant said that the dam’s construction would create 16,500 jobs, generate 4500 megawatts hydel power and irrigate 1.2 million acres agricultural land.

Asim Bajwa said that the dam will also enhance Tarbela Dam’s age by 35 years.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Imran Khan was briefed in detail by the Chairman WAPDA about the progress of resolution of all pending issues pertaining to Construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam.

In his remarks, the prime minister said that the Construction of dams and ensuring water security will help meet the energy and agriculture requirements of the Country at an affordable rate.

Imran Khan said that after completion, Diamer Bhasha Dam will boost construction and provide a huge stimulus to the national economy.

The prime minister directed that use of local material and expertise should be accorded priority during the construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam which will provide huge job opportunities to our people.
