KHAIRPUR, Pakistan: The Institute of International Relations (Department of Peace and Conflict Studies), Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur in Collaboration with Rotary Club Khairpur Bhittai, Gradsy International, Calyx Foundation & the Accountability Lab Pakistan, Islamabad organized a Memorial Condolence Reference in the loving memory of the great scholar of International Peace & Human Rights I.A. Rehman (1930-2021).

The Condolence Reference was organized at the Social Sciences Faculty Auditorium of the New Academic Block of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur under the blessed umbrella of the Worthy Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur (Professor Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto.

Professor Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Faculty presided over the reference on behalf of the worthy Vice Chancellor of University. Talking at the occasion Dr. Lashari lauded the tireless efforts of late Ibne- Abdul Rehman (I.A. Rehman).

Professor Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari uttered that Rehman Sahib was among luminaries & Legends of Human Rights, Peace and Social Justice.

He was very generous in visiting Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur to lead and empower Faculty and Students with his very dynamic intellectual thoughts.

Further, he spoke that keeping in view the meritorious services of Late Rehman Sahib Auditorium/ Classroom would be officially designated in his loving memory with special mentoring of competent authority.

Professor Dr. Amir Ahmad Khuhro, Director Institute of International Relations in his Keynote speech highly appreciated the efforts of Late I.A Rehman and acknowledged that the given path of human plight, peace, prosperity & rights by late Rehman would be encapsulated academically in course work of the discipline of International Relations& Peace and Conflict Studies.

He genuinely thanked the competent authority, Dean Faculty of Institute of International Relations& the partnering organizations of memorial reference to make this much needed event a real success.

D.r Khuhro acknowledged and appreciated the role of the brilliant students for participating in the event and made presentations on the life and role of Great I.A. Rehman.

Sarfaraz Ali Korejo, Executive Director, Students Advancement Fund Endowment& Charter President of Rotary Club Khairpur Bhittai said that Late I.A. Rehman was a noble soul, well-wisher of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur and been very kind in visiting frequently to grace and empower the events on Peace, Human Rights, Media and Social issues as Keynote Speaker& Chief Guest.

His work and contribution needed to be academically revisited / searched by all the stake holders of event today.

Mr. Korejo informed the august house that Rotary International & Rotary Foundation firmly believe in celebrating the Peace Icons and announced that Certificate Courses / Workshops would be a regular series to empower and enhance the capacity of students and faculty.

As a good will gesture, he announced that renovation of any Class Room with Study Material would be the responsibility of Rotary Club Khairpur Bhittai and Dynamic Leadership of District 3271.

Moreover, a series of the Guest lecture series through the Rotary and other partner organizations would be a regular feature now.

All the possible help, support& mentorship would be provided and very soon a MoU would be inked by Rotary with Institute of International Relations (Department of the Peace and Conflict Studies) of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur.

Mr. G. Reza Shahani, Faculty member Department of Pakistan Study also spoke on the occasion. Prof. Dr Liaqat Ali Chandio, Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Shaikh, Dr Zaheer Hussain Soomro and large number of University students attended the event with an obligation and solidarity with visionary Peace Leader.

Earlier, silence was observed and Fateha was read for the departed soul of late I A. Rehman by house with a candle vigil.

Ms. Shaherbanu Soomro paid the vote of thanks on behalf of students and faculty to the guest speakers and students.
