RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that we are confronting hybrid conflict where focus is shifting to subversion on religious, sectarian, ethnic & social issues, and stressed the need to have a comprehensive national response to deal with it.

In an interactive session with participants of National Security Workshop who visited the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday, the COAS said that Pakistan had been subjected to various threats especially during the last two decades.

The COAS said that Pakistani nation and its armed forces have bravely and successfully stood up to these challenges and is on a positive trajectory to defeat it effectively.

The Army Chief emphasised that we now have a greater responsibility to ensure that our people, especially youth stay aware and steadfast against propaganda onslaught being launched through soft offensive.

“It’s our time to rise and progress and we must grasp the opportunity achieved after countless sacrifice,” he said.

Earlier, a briefing on security situation of Pakistan, challenges and response was also held.

The National Security Workshop is an annual event at the National Defence University (NDU) participated by representatives from all segments of society.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
