ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan visited the Citizen Club at F-9 Park in Islamabad on Monday, and issued the directive to open it for the general public.

The Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, the Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, the Minister for Human Rights Dr. Shireen Mazari, the Minister of Health Dr. Faisal Sultan, Senator Faisal Javed Khan, and the Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Amer Ali Ahmed accompanied the prime minister.

On the directions of the prime minister, a Committee comprising the Chairman CDA and the famous Architect Nayyer Ali Dada has been constituted which will present its recommendations for bringing into use the building of Citizen Club for the public interest.

It was in 2008 that construction work on the Citizen Club was started but its completion faced delays. The incumbent government completed work on it in 2018.

The Citizen Club spreads over 22 acres with a 265,000 square-foot covered area and was built by the CDA at a cost of over Rs 2 billion.
