NationalChief Justice takes Suo Moto notice of killing of Arshad Sharif

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial has taken Suo Moto notice of the brutal killing of journalist Arshad Sharif.

In a statement, it was stated that the journalist community in the Country and the public at large are deeply distressed and are concerned about the death of the senior journalist and are seeking the Court’s scrutiny of the matter.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan has issued notice to the Secretary Interior, the Secretary Foreign Affairs, the Secretary Information and Broadcasting, the Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Director General Intelligence Bureau (IB) and President Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and has fixed the matter on December 6, 2022 at 12:30 pm before a five-member larger bench to be headed by the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan.

The five-member larger bench will consist of Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan, Justice Sayyed Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar.
