LAHORE, Pakistan: AkzoNobel Pakistan Limited (ANPL), the Pakistan arm of the world’s leading global paints and performance coatings company, has announced that it will be entering into negotiations for a partnership with the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) to paint the Lahore Fort Food Street.

Mr Jehanzeb Khan, Chief Executive ANPL, and Mr Kamran Lashari, Director General WCLA expressed their intent to work together for the restoration of the Walled City Lahore on March 29th, 2017 at the AkzoNobel head office in Lahore.

The project would become part of AkzoNobel’s  global ‘Human Cities’ initiative, which showcases the companys commitment to helping the world’s urban areas deliver a stronger sense of community purpose, pride, and happiness. This repainting of the heritage site will brings together the art of creation, beauty, history, remembrance and uniqueness with the latest science and technology used in the conservation through the language of colours.Team WCLA and ANPL 2

Commenting on the initiative, Mr Khan said, “While AkzoNobel has undertaken many such restoration projects across the globe, this is the first time we are exploring undertaking of this magnitude in Pakistan. The Walled City of Lahore is a world heritage site and is comparable to the best in the world and we look forward to our working together to maintain and celebrate our heritage in our commitment to make Pakistan more liveable, colourful, and inspiring”.

Mr Lashari added, “This initiative is a big step forward towards preserving Lahore’s culture and heritage. But more importantly, this will help raise awareness to the Walled City’s economic life too. We’re extremely grateful to AkzoNobel Pakistan for working towards making Lahore, even more beautiful, whilst simultaneously strengthening our combined sense of community.”

The restoration of the Food Street will re-energize the lives of hundreds of local residents, tourists and the community as a whole as they experience the well-preserved heritage of Lahore’s ancient culture and history.
