National50,000 households to receive 1-KV Solar Systems in Punjab

Under the Roshan Gharana Programme, the Punjab government has announced to distribute 1-KV Solar Systems among 50,000 households in the province with an aim to free the poor of expensive electricity.

The 1-KV Solar Systems will be allotted to eligible households through balloting.

In the first phase, protected consumers consuming up to 100 units of electricity per month will be eligible under the programme.50,000 households to receive 1-KV Solar Systems in Punjab

In a meeting – held in Lahore on April 22 – the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed to immediately launch the pilot project to evaluate its efficiency. She directed to assess the utility by installing one-KV Solar Systems in various homes.

Maryam Nawaz said that there will be a gradual expansion of the Scheme for domestic consumers.

The Chief Minister also emphasised the need to use the best quality solar plates, inverters, batteries, and accessories.

Main Features of the Scheme;

  • Two solar panels, a battery, inverter and wires will be provided to the consumers.
  • 1-KV Solar System can run fans, lights and small motors.
  • Up to 16 hours of charging backup can be provided through the lithium-ion battery.
