ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In the last 24 hour, 45 people lost their lives to flood-relation incidents across the Country, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Saturday.
In the latest statistics released by the NDMA, it was told that in the last 24 hours, the torrential rains and flood have left 33 dead in Sindh and 10 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The NDMA said that a total of 982 people have died of flood-related causes and 1,456 have suffered injuries throughout the Country since June 14.
Meanwhile, releasing the report of damages caused by torrential rains and floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in last two and half months, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said that 193 people have died and further 251 have inured in various incidents across the province during the period.
The PDMA said that during the said period, 2,161 kilometers roads, 149 bridges, 16 schools, and 19,748 houses have been damaged in the province.
Like elsewhere in the Country, floods have also wrecked havoc in Balcohistan, causing a number of casualties and damages to houses and infrastructure.
The analysts have said that mostly earthfill dams have been constructed in the Balochistan province and which have now been swept away by floods. Therefore, according to them, earthfill dams are not feasible in such areas and we need to build dams in Balochistan properly with concrete.
