ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Islamabad police have chalked out an elaborate security plan for the processions of Eid Milad-un-Nabi falling on December 12 (12th Rabi ul Awwal), police source said.

According to the plan, about 1,500 cops would perform security duties on this occasion and strict patrolling would be ensured during processions and religious gatherings in the city.

Islamabad police including Rangers and personnel of other law enforcement agencies would perform patrolling and security duties on this occasion and main procession starting from Sector G-7 will be completely cordoned off through heavy deployment.

Following the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) (Operations) Sajid Kiani, he said four Superintendent of Polices (SPs), Sub Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Station House Officers (SHOs) and other police officials would visit the routes of procession and ensure effective coordination among the security personnel performing duties.

The police officials would guide the cops and boost their morale in accomplishing duties in a responsible manner.

The police officers including the SPs would also visit various police posts, lying in the route of procession, check security duties and brief cops as how to ensure effective security, the source added.

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) also devised special plan for smooth traffic flow and avoid inconvenience to the road users.

The SSP (Traffic) Malik Matloob would lead the ITP personnel on this occasion to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city and divert traffic on alternate routes.

Close liaison would be maintained with organizers of procession and other gatherings in the city. Cooperation of organizers will be ensured with the police and law enforcing officials.
