10th Muharram being observed across Pakistan today

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman has stressed upon the countrymen in general and the people of the province in particular to maintain complete unity, cohesion and harmony in their ranks.

In his message on the eve of 10th Muharram Ul Haram being observed across the Country on Friday, Shah Farm also stressed the people to demonstrate the highest level of fraternity and commitment for ensuring better future for the coming generations.

“Muharram Ul Haram; one of the most sacred months of the Islamic Calendar bears special significance in Islamic history for the faithfuls,” the governor said. “The 10th of Muharram Ul Haram reminds the Muslims; the historic tragedy wherein Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and his companions embraced martyrdom at Karbala.”

The governor said that “It signifies that great sacrifice offered by the 72 martyrs who chose the path of truth and righteousness to fight against the forces of evils and tyranny with un-shakable spirit of commitment and steadfastness.

In the Tragedy of Karbala, there is a comprehensive message for us with far reaching effects. It teaches us the lessons of faith, steadfastness, perseverance and above all patience at a time when faced with heavy odds and powerful adversaries. On the occasion of 10th of Muharram, being observed today, I take the opportunity to stress upon the countrymen in general and the people of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular to maintain complete unity, cohesion and harmony in their ranks; demonstrate the highest level of fraternity and commitment for ensuring better future for the coming generations”.
