KARACHI, Pakistan: The Sindh Transport Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah on Friday said that as many as 1,000 new buses would be plied in Karachi under the modern transport system.
While presiding over a review meeting with regard to modern transport system in Karachi on Friday, the minister said that induction of 1,000 new buses in the metropolis would help ease the public transport problem in the metropolis. These buses would be introduced in the city within couple of months time, he added.
It was pointed out at the meeting that the government is active and the Chief Minister as well as Syed Nasir Hussain Shah were also playing their role.
Nasir Hussain Shah said that in the new transport system, preference would be accorded to the old transporters.
Every possible assistance and help would be extended towards interest-free loans for the purchase of new buses and mini-buses.
The minister said that not only in Karachi but the new inter-city buses would be plied in the interior of province as well.
Talha Farooqui said on the occasion that in view of the population of Karachi more than 10,000 buses are required for the metropolis.
