National AssemblyNA Special Committee directs reinstatement of 78 PTDC employees

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Assembly’s Special Committee on Affected Employees has directed to reinstate 78 employees of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC).

The Committee met in Islamabad on February 10, 2023 under the Chairmanship of Qadir Khan Mandokhail and discussed the issues relating to the PTDC.

It was briefed to the Committee that the Board Meeting has been conducted wherein it has been decided that the process for grant of golden hand shake package will be expedited.

The Committee observed with grave concern that no direction of the Committee has been followed by the department, and even the direction not to obtain further financial benefits from the provinces until they agree on the acceptance of employees as well.

It was explained by the Managing Director (MD) PTDC that only the issue of golden hand shake is pending that is also only due to the reason that some of the employees had challenged the decision which is still pending before the Court.

The employees were terminated in June 2020 and the issue is still pending.

The department has stated that written applications of 65 employees for grant of golden hand shake is still lying with the department.

The Committee also discussed the issue of 78 PTDC employees appointed in year 2011-22 but later on they were ordered to stay at home. Since then, the employees are still in the Court and under the litigation.

The representatives of 40 employees from the Head Quarter stated that they have been terminated without procedure after a service of 31 years.

It was stated by the MD PTDC that a proper package of golden hand shake has been offered to them which is still pending.

The issue raised by Asad Afzal and others was decided in their favor.

The Committee directed to reinstate 78 employees who were ordered to stay at home. It also directed the department to reinstate Nadir Khan, Gull Khan, and Amanullah in services along with all back benefits.
