ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As the farewell Session of the 14th National Assembly was held in Islamabad on Thursday, the Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expressed gratitude to Allah Almighty and all political parties for their cooperation.

“I thank Allah for running the affairs of the Parliament smoothly for five years. I thank all the members of the assembly and the Parliamentary leaders,” Ayaz Sadiq said while giving his last speech in the assembly.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that I had the cooperation of both the government and the opposition.

The Speaker said that the current Parliament passed 187 laws, approved 5 Constitutional amendments and passed 21 bills of the private members. He said that the previous governments didn’t complete their Constitutional period.

A total of 56 sessions of the National Assembly was held since June 1, 2013 to May 31 2018. In addition to this, 12 Joint Session of the Parliament were also held during this tenure.

The Lower House remained in the Session for longest time during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s (PAT) 126-days sit-in in the Federal Capital.

Various heads of the states including Turkey, Indonesia and China addressed the Joint Session of the Parliament.

President Mamnoon Hussain also addressed the Joint Session of the Parliament five times.
