ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A new Museum Lobby with beautiful “Symbol of federalism” a sculpture inaugurated at the Heritage Museum, National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan Major General (retd) Jayanath C.P was the chief guest on the occasion.

The Executive Director Lok Virsa Dr. Fouzia Saeed said that beautiful sculptures depicting the cultures from Pakistan’s four provinces and Gilgit Baltistan, have been placed at the entrance lobby of Heritage Museum. These sculptures include:

“We have been working on exciting additions at Lok Virsa with a focus on introducing new pathways and innovations at the Heritage Musuem in keeping with the latest techniques used in Museums around the world,” she said.

In beautiful sculpture, Panihari women from Sindh searching the Tharparkar desert in quest of water and a Baloch folk singer singing a folk song with a Danbura, which is a famous musical instrument of Balochistan. A skillful artisan from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province engaged in the age old tradition of stone carving and a woman in Punjab churning butter milk (Lassi) in a clay pot with a wooden hand mixer i.e. Madani.  A herder from Gilgit Baltistan is carrying a goat on his shoulder.

The addition of these beautiful sculptures to welcome visitors to Heritage Museum is a great milestone for Lok Virsa which is the home of all provinces of Pakistan.

Folk artists Nazir Hunzai, Komal Nadeem, Shaheena Mughal, Noor Fatima, Adnan Haider, Neeli Ahmed and Young professional were also present on the occasion.

The Sri Lankan High Commissioner highly appreciated the efforts of Lok Virsa for promoting culture and arts of the Pakistan. He said that Sri Lankan High Commission would collaborate with Lok Virsa for initiating joint cultural programmes.

Chief of the Air Staff expressed his gratitude for the honour of receiving the Bahrain Medal - First Class. On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
