KARACHI, Pakistan: Syed Murad Ali Shah of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was elected as the Chief Minister of Sindh Province on Monday for the third consecutive term.

The Session was presided over by the newly elected Speaker Owais Qadir Shah.

Murad Ali Shah secured 112 votes out of 148 total cast during voting while his rival Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) Ali Khurshidi received 36 votes.

The MPAs belonging to the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) did not cast vote.

Earlier, the Session of the Sindh Assembly to elect the new Provincial Chief Executive began with the Speaker Owais Qadir Shah in the Chair.

The MPAs cast their votes by walking through the right side of the aisle for PPP’s Murad Ali Shah and the left for MQM-P’s Ali Khurshidi.
