ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A high-level delegation headed by the Commander of Iraqi Rapid Response Unit Lieutenant General Dr. Tahamir Ismail arrived at the Ministry of Interior in Islamabad on Saturday, the held a meeting with the Federal Minister for Interior and Counter Narcotics Mohsin Naqvi.

In the meeting, the two sides held a discussion on matters of mutual interest.

The discussion regarding not taking passports from Pakistani pilgrims in Iraq and providing more facilities them also took place.

They also discussed the issue of imparting training to Iraqi Police in Pakistan and building cooperation in the Safe City Project.

Likewise, they also had talks on increasing cooperation to stop illegal immigration and human trafficking.

The Iraqi delegation extended an invitation to the interior minister to visit Iraq.

The Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that the suggestion about not taking passports from pilgrims to Iraq requires immediate action. He said that it is hoped that the Iraqi government will make a final decision in this regard soon.

Mohsin Naqvi said that Pakistan has decided to provide visa-free facility for Iraqi siblings, and the process, in this regard, will start soon.

The minister assured that all possible support will be provided for the training of the Iraqi Police. He said that we will provide support to Iraq at all levels in the Safe City Project.

The Commander Iraqi Rapid Response Unit said that the issue of not taking passports from Pakistani visitors will be discussed with the DG Passport, expressing hope that the issue will be resolved.

The Iraqi delegation included Brigadier General Commander of Protection Regiment Aqeel Kazim, Brigadier General Abdul Hussain, Muhammad Sohail and others.

The Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Ali Agha and Managing Director National Radio and the Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) Brigadier Muhammad Asim were also present on the occasion.
